Although MediaTek has just released the world's first true-octa core processor MT6592, the chipset is missing an LTE support. However, the company is already working on its successor which is nothing more than an LTE enabled version of the MT6592 SoC.
While we have yet to see the first smartphones with the MediaTel MT6592 chipset, the chipset will most likely be found only on mid-range smartphones. The company hopes to change that and challenge Qualcomm with an LTE enabled version of the MT6592. The MediaTek MT6595 is currently in "advanced testing" and is expected to ship to device makers in January.
