It has been a couple of weeks since Nokia first announced the successor to its extremely popular value-oriented WP8 Smartphone. The Lumia 525 is yet to see a global release, but the handset is already on sale in Singapore, where it costs $200 off-contract. However, Nokia's China division has the price of the phone listed as CNY 1,099, which translates to about $185. But but but, online retailers in China (such as TMall and Unicom) are already selling the Lumia 525 for just CNY 999 (or about $163).
If Nokia were to release the Lumia 525 in India, the US and other regions across the globe for a similar (~$160) pricing, it would certainly take the reigns from the Lumia 520 and continue boosting the sales of Lumia devices, thereby increasing the market share of WP8 across the globe.
Meanwhile, if you live in China and are looking for a cheap WP8 Smartphone, look no further. The Lumia 525 is here.
UPDATE: JD.com is offering the Lumia 525 for just CNY 899 (about $148), making this the cheapest and best deal on the new launch.
