Shipments for touch panels used in smaller-size notebooks are expected to climb 10% on quarter in fourth-quarter 2013.

　　The increase comes as demand for 10.1-inch detachable notebooks running Windows 8.1 OS has been picking up. Demand for touch notebooks has been less-than-expected in 2013 but market observers believe that advancements in Microsoft's OS and newly released products helped bump up demand for the technology throughout the end of 2013 and will also help drive touch notebook sales in 2014.

　　IHS meanwhile said that in terms of overall touch panel shipments in the fourth quarter, the shipment proportion of 10.1-inch touch panels shipped will reach 22%, up from 19.6% in the previous quarter.

　　IHS also added that shipments of notebooks equipped with touch panels will reach 18.24 million units in 2013.
