LG reportedly is planning to downsize its PC business and will turn to focus on products such as smartphones and tablets in the future, according to Korea media. Sources from the upstream supply chain believe LG may be considering quitting the PC industry as it only has a small proportion of sales coming from the market. The company's absence would only have limited impact toward Taiwan's upstream supply chain, the sources added.
Korea media reported that LG Electronics is planning to shift its business focus away from the PC industry and will announce its new business plan during the CES 2014.
LG is currently a top-5 smartphone brand vendor in the world and had a share of around 5% in the global smartphone sales in the third quarter, the sources noted. |
