Radiant Opto-electronics expects to see increased revenues in 2014 due to increased backlighting unit (BLU) orders for use in tablet and TV products.
After seeing a 17% on-year decline in revenues during 2013, Radiant expects to see a new surge of orders from tablet vendors in addition to TV vendors from Japan- and China-based customers.
In order to meet customer demand in China, Radiant has budgeted a capital expenditure of over US$50 million to expand production capacity.
Coretronic meanwhile saw 8% revenue growth in 2013 largely due to backlighting panel shipments. The company's shipments reached 22.73 million in the fourth quarter of 2013, up 20% on quarter. Coretronic's shipments for applications used in projectors were down 6% on year in 2013 and shipments are expected to drop about 10% in January 2014.
Both Radiant and Coretronic are optimistic about orders for Ultra HD TV products in 2014. Apple orders are also expected to help Radiant's performance in 2014 and will also contribute to Coretronic's performance, as the company has entered the iPad supply chain. |
