China's TV panel makers are looking to bump up their influence in the market through advanced technology and increased production capacity in 2014.
Industry sources said the panel makers believe China TV vendors will see steady shipments in 2014, with some expected to bump up shipments as a result of increased demand in emerging markets. Panel makers in China therefore are preparing to meet this demand by expanding their production and also estimate that orders from vendors outside China will increase as well.
Some of the orders in 2014 could come from Samsung Electronics, which expects to ship 46-47 million TVs; LG Electronics, which expects to 31-32 million; and TCL, which expects to ship 15-16 million LCD TVs, the sources added.
Ultra HD TV panel shipments are expected to climb to between 15-20 million units in 2014, said market observers. Much of the growth is expected to come from China, which will give local panel makers an opportunity to increase shipments of high-end units provided their technology improves, and to fulfill demand that would otherwise be met by Taiwan panel makers, the observers added. |
