AU Optronics (AUO) has announced it successfully started mass producing 6-inch WQHD LCD panels for smartphones in late 2013.

　　AUO said the coming of the 4G communications era and the growth of smartphones with large screens will allow users to access and share a considerable amount of images and videos, creating higher demand for screens showing finer details. AUO's 6-inch WQHD LCD panel, adopting Advanced Hyper-Viewing Angle (AHVA) technology and LTPS production, has a resolution as high as 2560 by 1440, or nearly 500ppi. In addition, the panel has a 0.9mm bezel, said AUO.
