Inventec will focus operations in 2014 on increasing overall gross margins from nearly 5% in 2013 to over 5%, according to company chairman Richard Lee.
In view of decreasing global notebook demand, Inventec is making efforts to increase revenues from other product lines, Lee indicated. Inventec's subsidiary Inventec Appliances, which has China-based vendor Xiaomi Technology as its largest client, shipped 15 million smartphones in 2013 and aims to ship 30 million units in 2014, Lee pointed out.
In addition to becoming the largest server ODM for Hewlett-Packard, Inventec has begun direct shipments to Internet service providers, Lee said. Inventec will expand its server staff from fewer than 100 members currently to 300 in 2014.
Inventec, Chunghwa Telecom and the government-sponsored Institute for Information Industry on January 17 announced cooperation to offer cloud computing data center solutions in the Taiwan market and for export to Japan and Southeast Asia. |
