Handsets shipped by Taiwan-based ODMs stayed flat in the fourth quarter of 2013, with Compal Communications and Arima Communications seeing their shipments decline significantly on quarter, while shipments from Chi Mei Communication Systems (CMCS) and Wistron posted gains, according to Digitimes Research.
Shipments from brand vendor HTC also declined slightly in the fourth quarter as demand for its main models, which have been in the market for 2-3 quarters, has begun to subdue, said Digitimes Research.
However, combined shipments of other brand vendors posted a sequential gain, buoyed by increased shipments to markets in Southeast Asia.
For all of 2013, combined handset shipments by Taiwan's ODMs and brand vendors topped 60 million units, which were the lowest in five years and represented a decrease of 5.1% from the previous year. |
