Acer has launched its Liquid Z5, a 5-inch entry-level smartphone equipped with MediaTek MT6572 1.3GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM and a 5-megapixel rear camera, in the Taiwan market at a contract-free retail price of NT$6,990 (US$233) or at NT$0 bundled with a Chunghwa Telecom contract.

　　Liquid Z5's simple functionality targets four customer groups: the elderly, housewives, children and students, Acer noted.

　　Acer sold 70,000 smartphones in the Taiwan market in 2013 and aims to sell 140,000 units in 2014.
