With the notebook industry no longer seeing as strong demand as seen previously, Asustek Computer is taking a more aggressive stance in the desktop market and expects to ship four million desktops in 2014, up from two million units in 2013, according to company president Jerry Shen.
Shen pointed out that China will be one of the company's major targets for the desktop business and Asustek will also design models for enterprise clients.
Some market watchers pointed out that Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) reportedly is the main manufacturer of Asustek's desktops and has already landed orders for one million units for the first half of the year, with the orders expected to help cover the company's lost desktop orders from Acer. |
