China-based TV vendor TCL has reported that its LCD TV sales in January 2014 reached 1.69 million units, down 16% on year.
Smart TV sales were up 23.2% while 3D units were down 33% on year. TCL's sales in markets outside of China were up 53.5%, with over 18% of the growth coming from emerging markets and the rest from Europe.
In 2013, TCL sold 17.5 million LCD TVs (including commercial displays) while LCD TV sales reached 17.18 million, up 10.7% on year. Over 16.66 million of the sales were for LED backlit units, up 40% on year.
Sources at the company said they expect most of TCL's sales to come from 30- to 50-inch LCD units, and that demand for Ultra HD TVs is expected to rise. |
