Acer is optimistic about smartphone sales in 2014 and has upward adjusted target shipments from five million to 10 million units, 6.67 times the 1.5 million units shipped in 2013, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.
  Acer's 2014 marketing strategy is to increase shipment proportions for entry-level and mid-range smartphones and extend marketing into Latin America, the sources indicated. Acer has launched two smartphones, the Liquid Z3 and Z5, in the Chile market and will do so in Brazil and Mexico soon. Acer also plans to tap the Argentina market, the sources pointed out. Demand for smartphones in Latin America is growing fast, the sources noted.
  Acer will showcase the Liquid E3 and Liquid Z4 at the 2014 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain during February 24-27, for launch at EUR199 (US$2720 and EUR99, respectively. Liquid E3 is a mid-range Android 4.2.2 model featuring a MediaTek-developed 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 4.7-inch IPS touch screen, 2-megapixel front camera and 13-megapixel rear camera. The Liquid Z4 is an entry-level Android 4.2.2 model equipped with MediaTek-developed 1.3GHz dual-core processor, 4-inch touch screen and 5-megapixel rear camera.
