Dell is planning to add new product lines under its sub-brand AlienWare and will expand from the PC industry to the home entertainment market, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.
Since AlienWare's products are popular in the gaming industry, the US-based vendor is optimistic about its entry into the entertainment business, said the sources.
AlienWare's current product offerings include desktops, notebooks, mice, headsets, projectors and other accessories.
Meanwhile, Taiwan-based notebook ODM Wistron is also expanding its product portfolio.
Wistron has announced that it will buy up to 69 million common shares of Malaysia-based speaker maker Formosa Prosonic Industries Berhad (FPI) in after-hour trading for total investments of not higher than NT$560 million (US$18.5 million). |
