TV panel makers expect to see increased orders in the second half of the first quarter of 2014 after a slowdown in January and February 2014, according to industry sources.
The May 1 holiday period in China is expected to drive the demand, with orders for Ultra HD TV panels in particular expected to see some of the biggest increases.
Large-size Ultra HD TV demand is expected to increase in China during 2014, with AU Optronics (AUO) and Innolux expected to supply most of the panels.
Most of the Ultra HD panel supply is expected to go to China-based vendors but some will go to Japan- and Korea-based vendors as well.
Additionally, Sony is also expected to purchase about five million LCD panels from Taiwan panel makers in 2014 to meet its 14 million LCD TV shipment quota during the year.
Innolux meanwhile is expected to see a 5-15% decline in large-size panel shipments during the first quarter, the sources added. |
