The Ultra HD TV penetration rate in China is expected to reach 20% in 2014, according to market observers.
With Ultra HD TVs priced about 1.2-1.5 times the cost of Full HD TVs in China, TV vendors are pushing the technology in the China market, with most planning to offer discounted pricing during certain holiday periods, the observers said.
TV vendors in China may also further lower prices as supply chains find cheaper solutions for Ultra HD TV components.
The increased penetration rate also comes as TV vendors in China continue to expand their product lines, offering products sized below 50-inch such as 39- and 42-inch units.
The observers added that 90% of China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT) Ultra HD TV panel shipments will go to six major TV vendors in China during 2014 while BOE will allocate about 70%.
