Asustek Computer is expected to increase orders for smartphone components in March and April, according to industry sources.

　　The company's orders will be for smartphones that are aimed at emerging markets, particularly China, where Asustek hopes it can bump up its presence.

　　Asustek hopes it can do so by bumping up its range of higher-end smartphones that are priced in the mid-range segment. To achieve this, the company is increasing cooperation with China-based supply chains such as touch panel makers for lower-priced solutions, the sources said.

　　The sources added Asustek is also adjusting its product portfolio for tablet and notebook products in 2014.
