Acer has reported consolidated revenues of NT$24.47 billion (US$808 million) for February, rising by 13.98% on month but dropping by 12.93% on year. Its conslidated revenues for January-February reached NT$45.94 billion, slipping on year by 15.62%.
Despite a low base of comparison, the sequential growth for February was not as high as expected as a result of seasonal factors, industry observers said. The company is expected to continue seeing losses in the first quarter because of its business restructuring, but may have a good a chance of returning to profits in 2014.
Although Acer is aggressively pushing its Build Your Own Cloud (BYOC) platform, the business is unlikely to generate significant revenues or profits in the short term.
