Certain retailers in China are reportedly cutting prices for LCD TVs by as much as 30% in order to clear out inventories, according to industry sources.
The retailers hope they can clear out inventories throughout the first quarter of 2014 before they restock new products in the following quarter.
The declined pricing will reportedly also apply for older Ultra HD units. Going into the second quarter the pricing is expected to rebound when vendors release new units, inlcuding WCG and larger-size Ultra HD TVs.
Ultra HD TV vendors in China are also expected to release new units sized 40-, 42-, 48- and 49-inch.
The Ultra HD TV marker in China is expected to see between 4-8 million in unit sales in 2014, with a penetration rate of about 20%, added market observers.
