Taiwan-based fabless IC design house StorArt Technology plans to ramp up shipments of its SD 3.1 memory card controller ICs and eMMC 4.51 controller chips in 2014, according to industry sources.
StorArt's eMMC 4.51 chip, the SA3601, is specially designed for embedded-NAND oriented applications and has entered the approved vendor list (AVL) for peripheral chips to be paired with chipset solutions from MediaTek, Spreadtrum Communications, Allwinner Technology, and Rockchip Electronics, said the sources.
The company also plans to roll out eMMC 5.x controllers, supporting MLC and TLC NAND flash chips in the second half of 2014, the sources noted.
