Intel-powered Android phones with compatible 64-bit capable Atom processors are soon going to hit the market, running a 64-bit version of Android 4.4 KitKat. Yep! Instead of leaving it to the OEMs, Intel themselves have ported the 64-bit mobile OS to run on its new SoCs (Braswell).

　　"The company ported, validated and tested the Android Open Source code on Intel Architecture, taking on the work that developers typically would need to do on their own..."

　　Analysts predict that 2015 will be the year that Android makes the shift to 64-bit, trailing behind Apple, who made the move last year itself with the Apple A8 chip and iOS 7.

　　"...this release will provide the ecosystem with 64-bit kernel support for development of next-generation devices".
