In terms of value of sales
Sony is consistently improving itself, both in terms of quality of products as well as sales. The company has moved up the ranks, pushing aside companies such as Apple to move to #2 spot for Smartphone seller in India. This feat has been achieved as a result of multiple new market strategies, including increased focus on the INR 10,000 - INR 20,000 ($166 - $333) market segment, as well as a massive INR 300 crore ($65 million) marketing campaign in India. Note that Sony is #2 in terms of value of sales. If you consider volume of sales, Indian phone maker Micromax takes the lead.
As of Q4 2013, Sony enjoys a 9.1% market share in India, which is more than Apple's 7%, but far lower than Samsung's 43% stat in terms of value of sales. When it comes to volume, Sony has 5.5%, Apple 2% and Samsung at 38%. Micromax comes in at 13%, second to Sammy. |
