Some memory device suppliers are pushing sales of NAND Flash chips bundled with DRAM chips in order to help ease the oversupply of NAND Flash products in the market, according to market sources.
Prices of NAND Flash chips have continued to slip since the beginning of 2014 due largely to capacity ramps by major players including Samsung, Toshiba and SanDisk, said the sources.
As a result, downstream device makers have been reluctant to purchase NAND Flash in large volumes to avoid a pile-up of high-priced chips, noted the sources.
However, the sources indicated that prices of NAND Flash may stabilize soon as Apple reportedly will step up its purchases of NAND Flash chips from Micron Technology and SanDisk, which will help ease oversupplies in the market. |
