AU Optronics (AUO) and LG Display are both considering mass production of 42.5-inch LCD TV panels, according to industry sources. The panels will be used by the two companies to compete in the mid-range LCD TV market, where 39-, 40- and 42-inch units currently receive the most orders.

　　AUO is expected to produce the panels on an 8G line while LG will initially use a 7G line and later on a 8G line, the sources said.

　　Most of the customers for the panels are expected to be located in China, the sources revealed.
