Competition for sales of 4G LTE smartphones in Taiwan is expected to heat up soon as Samsung Electronics, HTC and Sony Mobile Communications are likely to introduce mid-range to high-end models, while other vendors are set to bring out entry-level to mid-range models, according to industry sources.
In addition to high-end models, HTC has started marketing its mid-range HTC Desire 816 in the local market, while Sony Mobile has introduced its mid-range Xperia M2. Both models are available for about NT$10,000 (US$330).
However, Huawei, Alcatel (TCL) and BenQ have been focusing on entry-level to mid-range models. For example, Alcatel is promoting its Smart 405 in cooperation with Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) with a price tag of NT$6,990.
Meanwhile, the Foxconn Group is cooperating with Infocus to launch its mid-range model, the M320, priced at NT$5,888. The M320 is powered by an 8-core CPU.
Additionally, Xiaomi Technology is expected to launch its 8-core Note in the local market, while Huawei is likely to introduce its Honor X3, said the sources. |
