Inventec aims to see its gross margin exceed 5% in 2014, compared with 4.95% posted for 2013, according to company chairman Richard Lee.
PV business will become a main contributor to 2014 gross margin, with revenues expected to hike from about NT$10 billion (US$331 million) in 2013 to NT$20 billion, Lee said.
Mainly due to slow demand for conventional notebooks, Inventec's consolidated revenues for 2014 will not substantially grow on year, Lee pointed out.
Being a major server ODM for Hewlett-Packard (HP), Inventec is not worried about the planned establishment of a server joint venture by HP and Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), Lee indicated, because the joint venture will target the white-box segment while Inventec focuses on business-use mid-range and high-end servers. Inventec will not directly compete for orders in the white-box segment but will cooperate with own-brand clients, Lee said. In addition, Inventec has been developing servers specifically for use in telecom data centers, Lee said.
Inventec has set up offices to promote cloud computing-based information and services in Taiwan, China and the US and will expand into Japan and Singapore, Lee noted. |
