Asustek Computer, Acer and Lenovo are expected to see their notebook market shares in Europe grow as both Samsung Electronics and Sony are paying less attention on their notebook businesses, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.
Samsung has withdrawn from the global entry-level and mid-range notebook segment to focus on Chromebooks, the sources indicated. Sony has sold its Vaio notebook business to Japan Industrial Partners which will result in a period of restructuring, the sources said.
Asustek shipped 18.8 million notebooks in 2013 and is expected to ship 20 million units in 2014. |
