Supply chains including panel makers Japan Display, Innolux, Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) as well as touch panel makers Wintek and GIS are seeing increased orders from Nokia for handset components, according to industry sources.
Nokia aims to extend its influence in the handset market by offering low-priced handsets for sale in emerging markets and the China market, said the sources, adding that China vendors will be Nokia's biggest competition.
Nokia will also push mid-range and high-end units as well, with Japan Display expected to supply Full HD and HD units while other panel makers will be repsonsible for qHD and WVGA units, the sources noted.
The sources also said China vendors meanwhile are looking to supply chains for the lowest priced solutions possible in order to increase price competitiveness in the market. |
