LCD TV demand in Taiwan during 2014 is expected to remain flat on year at around 1.4 million units.
The 1.4 million mark in 2013 represented 8-10% on-year growth, driven largely by subsidies offered for LCD TV purchases. Such subsidies have since come to an end and LCD TV demand is expected to be limited due to high pricing for newer units such as Ultra HD.
During holiday periods at the beginning of 2014, LCD TV sales reached between 150,000-200,000 a month but that number is expected to drop to under 100,000 per month throughout the rest of 2014.
Most LCD TV sales in Taiwan are from vendors such as Chimei, Tatung and Sampo in addition to international brands such as Sony, LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics. |
