Memory module maker Transcend Information has rolled out four models of its JetDrive Lite-series storage expansion cards for Apple's MacBook Pro and MacBook Air notebooks.
The rising penetration rates of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air in the US market will give a boost to the sale of the storage expansion cards, according to industry sources.
Apple ranked as the third-largest PC vendor in the US market in the fourth quarter of 2013 with a 13.7% share, trailing after only Hewlett-Parker (HP) (26.5%) and Dell (22.8%), according to data compiled by Gartner.
The JetDrive Lite-series expansion cards are available in 64GB and 128GB capacities and can be inserted smoothly into the slots of MacBook-series notebooks, Transcend claimed.
The expansion cards, which are built with MLC NAND flash chips, sport a read speed of 95MB/s and write speed of 60MB/s, Error Correction Code (ECC) and Wear Leveling technologies.
