Just as expected, Apple launched an 8 GB version of the iPhone 5C in India. The new phone comes with a lower price tag, Rs. 37,500 (roughly $640), as compared to the 16 GB launch model (Rs. 41,500 or $710). However, paying such a hefty amount for a piece of plastic is still not justified. Phones such as the Galaxy S5 and Xperia Z2 can be had by shelling out a little extra.
Will a lower entry point help boost iPhone 5C sales in India? We can't really say for sure. There is a ton of people who buy an iPhone as it serves as a status symbol. But really, paying so much for so little would be nothing but a foolish buying decision.
