Memory controller IC designers Skymedi, Solid State System (3S) and Phison Electronics have posted mixed results for May 2010.
Skymedi's May revenues climbed 37% sequentially to NT$214 million (US$6.6 million) on increased orders from Samsung Electronics and the addition of Panasonic as a client, marking the first time the Japan-based company has outsourced memory controller ICs.
Due to weak retail sales of NAND flash, Phison posted revenues of NT$2.29 billion in May, down 20% on quarter. The company expects sales to bottom out in May and begin to rebound in June on significantly stronger orders. Gross margins should remain in the double digits.
3S's May revenues rose 10% on month to NT$45 million thanks to orders from Kingston and Toshiba.
