As Microsoft has removed licensing charges for Windows used in below 9-inch mobile devices, vendors including Lenovo, Acer and Asustek Computer are expected to launch several tablets based on Windows 8.1 with Bing in the third quarter of 2014, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.

　　These devices are set to be displayed at Microsoft's booth during Computex 2014.

　　The sources pointed out that demand for Android-based tablets has already surpassed that of iOS-based ones, and currently accounts for over 60% of worldwide shipments.

　　However, eager to find new business opportunities, many vendors have still turned to adopt Microsoft's platform for their new tablets.

　　With price competition to remain fierce in the tablet market, despite Microsoft's new strategy, most vendors are still conservative about placing their orders for Windows-based models.

　　Lacking enough apps, plus Android-based tablets' low prices, the Windows platform is expected to have difficulties achieving strong growth, the sources added.
