Transcend Information has announced its entry into the multimedia player market with the new DMP10 high-definition (HD) plug-and-play device, showing its continuous efforts for diversification from the memory module business.
Transcend has diversified its products to include digital photo frames, music players and portable storage products, which the company places under its strategic product segment. Its sales ratio between DRAM modules, NAND flash devices and strategic products was 37:41:22 in 2009, compared to 35:56:9 in 2008.
Rival Adata Technology has also been active in developing its non-memory product line. The company unveiled its new power supply series at the recent Computex show in Taipei.
Adata chairman Simon Chen was saying DRAM modules and NAND flash products account for more than 90% of the company's total revenues, and the proportion is likely to remain almost unchanged for the next three years. However, Chen claimed sales of its non-memory products are growing.
Formerly A-Data Technology, Adata has changed its corporate name effective June 9, according to a company filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE). |
