MediaTek saw its consolidated revenues hit a new high for the fourth straight month in May, totaling NT$19.33 billion (US$641 million) and representing an increase of 1.2% sequentially and 76.8% on year.
For the first five months of 2014, revenues amounted to NT$84.43 billion, increasing 77.8% from a year earlier.
MediaTek's revenues for the second quarter of 2014 are likely to exceed the company's guidance of NT$51.5-55.2 billion, given that revenues in the April-May period have already reached NT$38.43 billion, or 69.6-74.6% of its target, according to industry sources.
Buoyed by strong demand for quad-core chips, MediaTek's smartphone solutions are expected to reach 80-90 million units in the second quarter of 2014, the sources estimated. |
