Asustek Computer saw its consolidated revenues grow 6.98% on month and 10.46% on year to reach NT$36.85 billion (US$1.23 billion) for May and the company's sales total for the first five months of 2014 was NT$181.62 billion, up 0.9% on year.
Asustek shipped 4.9 million notebooks, 2.1 million tablets, 5.2 motherboards and 200,000 handsets in the first quarter. In the second quarter, notebook shipments are expected to reach 4.6 million units, tablets 2.8 million, motherboards 5.2 million and handsets 1.5 million. Seeing better-than-expected demand for its ZenFone 5 smartphone, Asustek expects its smartphone shipments in June to enjoy on-month growth.
Although Asustek is looking to achieve 10 million smartphone shipments for 2014, the goal may not be easy to achieve due to component shortages for its mainstream 5-inch ZenFone product.
Asustek's net profits for the first quarter were NT$4.36 billion, down 23% sequentially and 28% on year with an EPS of NT$5.87. |
