MediaTek will begin commercial production of Aster, its SoC solution for wearable devices, in June with initial shipments to reach two million units a month, according to industry sources.

　　The Aster SoC solution adopts AndesCore CPU IP products from Andes Technology, and CMOS sensors and accelerometers from Pixart Imaging, the sources indicated.

　　Andes and Pixart Imaging will be the two important partners for MediaTek to make a significant inroads into the wearable device market, the sources added.

　　MediaTek aims to ship up to 10 million SoC solutions for wearable devices in 2014, indicated the sources.
