Sony Mobile Communications has unveiled its latest 4G smartphones, the Xperia Z2a and Xperia T3, in the Taiwan market, aiming to catch up with rival vendors Samsung Electronics and HTC in the 4G segment. The two models will be available beginning July.
The Xperia Z2a sports a Qualcomm S801 2.3GHz quad-core processor, 5-inch Full HD touchscreen, 3GB RAM and 16GB ROM and a 20.7-megapixel rear camera, running on Android 4.4.2 and supporting 700/900/1800MHz frequency bands.
The Xperia T3, comes with a 5.3-inch 1280 by 720 display, Qualcomm 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU, 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM, with a thickness of 7mm. The Xperia T3 targets the mid-range 4G segment.
Sony Mobile aims to ship 50 million smartphones in 2014, increasing nearly 30% from 39.1 million units shipped a year earlier, according to Jonathan Lin, president of Sony Mobile Communications Taiwan.
For the Taiwan market, Sony Mobile has released five smartphones and one LTE-enabled tablet so far in 2014, Lin noted, adding that the mid-range and high-end models launched in the second half of the year will support all LTE frequency bands used in Taiwan. |
