Well, that came sooner than we had expected. Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy S5 broadband LTE-A in South Korea today. Featuring a 5.1-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED panel, the new Galaxy S5 variant takes the title for the Smartphone with the highest pixel density display. This is also the first Super AMOLED panel to boast such a high pixel density (ppi).
Many features have been upgraded over the original Galaxy S5 announced earlier this year. You now have 3 GB of RAM, and the chipset has been upgraded to the new and powerful Snapdragon 805 SoC, which debuts the new Adreno 420 GPU (yum!). The quad-core CPU is clocked at 2.5 GHz.
Other than that, the Galaxy S5 broadband LTE-A remains largely unchanged - 16 MP rear and 2.1 MP front cameras, IP67 certified dust and water resistant, Heart Rate and fingerprint reading sensors, 32 GB of expandable storage (up to 128 GB), a 2,800 mAh battery and Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Dimensions remain untouched as well - 142.0 x 72.5 x 8.1mm and weighing 145g.
The new Galaxy S5 broadband LTE-A supports download speeds up to 225 Mbps. It comes in Charcoal Black, Copper Gold and Electric Blue and Shimmery White color schemes. Korean operator SKT will begin selling the phone from June 19th for 940,500 won (approximately $920). No word on international availability as of yet.
