TV sales in Taiwan have recently increased 15% on year driven by demand for the 2014 World Cup, according to industry sources.
TV vendors in addition to retailers in Taiwan have been holding specials for the sporting event, which coincides with the period when demand starts to pick up in Taiwan.
Sales of large-size 55-inch and above units have increased, as have Ultra HD units, the sources indicated.
The sources also said LCD TV shipments to other markets also increased in preparation for the World cup, with 50% growth in Brazil in first-quarter 2014. |
