After announcing the sale of its Vaio PC business and plans to restructure its LCD TV operations, Sony has turned its focus to smartphones and tablets. For the China market, the company has a 3-pronged strategy: strengthening the competitiveness of its products and services, developing new product types and expanding its gaming business, according to a Chinese-language Tencent report citing Sony president China Kurita Nobuki.

Sony will first push its ONE Sony project, integrating its consumer electronics (consumer and professional), mobile (smartphones and tablets) and content (music and videos) resources, the report noted.

To strengthen its product competitiveness, Sony has recently released its A7S camera and a series of high-end products including LCD TVs in China. The company is planning to have its high-end LCD TVs accounting for over 60% of its LCD TV sales, the report pointed out.

In addition to tablet and smartphone businesses, Sony will also focus on developing HD multimedia products, wearable devices, Ultra HD home theater systems and game consoles to satisfy demand from younger generations, the report added.
