It was rumoured for a while, but Samsung has finally officially launched the PadFone S as well as the ZenFone 5 with LTE capability. Both devices are available only in Taiwan at the moment, but there is a possibility we'll see them in other countries.
The PadFone S features a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, a 5-inch 1080p display, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of storage, a 13 MP rear camera and a 2,300 mAh battery. The tablet dock sports a 9-inch 1080p display with an additional 4,990 mAh battery, while both come with Android 4.4 KitKat OS. The price is around $500 in Taiwan.
ASUS ZenFone was first seen a couple of weeks ago and rumored to be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400. The rumour seems true, as it has the same SoC that is clocked at 1.2 GHz, accompanied with 2 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal memory and 8 MP rear camera. A 5-inch 720p IPS display draws power from a 2,110 mAh battery. It costs around $230. |
