In order to gain more entry-level markets over MediaTek, who is known for its entry-level chipsets, Qualcomm has decided to lower the price of its entry-level SoCs. However, MediaTek said that they don't feel a threat from this price drop and Qualcomm.

Furthermore, MediaTek has some long-lasting business contracts that will result in 15 million 4G processors shipped this year. This price drop from Qualcomm will result in a better low-end smartphones and tablets, and maybe even cheaper current lineup, but will it be enough to catch MediaTek?
