SanDisk has teamed up with Rockchip Electronics to promote its eMMC solutions, the iNAND family products, in China taking Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix on directly, according to industry sources.
Optimizing Rockchip's product platforms, the iNAND solutions will be incorporated into a number of mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets, helping system OEMs and other device makers to shorten time to market for their new products, the sources indicated.
Meanwhile, SanDisk also claimed that its eMMC products will be able to help China-based system providers to penetrate into the entry-level mobile device market fast.
Sales of SanDisk's embedded products have shown substantial growth recently, buoyed by strong sales to the OEM market in China, said industry sources.
In related news, Taiwan-based Solid State System (3S) will also enter the eMMC market in China as the company's eMMC controller chips have been verified for integration with platforms from Qualcomm, MediaTek, Rockchip and Actions Semiconductor, according to the sources. |
