Micron Technology has announced net profits for the quarter ended June 3 were US$939 million, compared to profits of US$365 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2010 and losses incurred in the year-ago period.
Micron said its profit results for the third quarter of fiscal 2010 included US$488 million in purchase accounting gains relating to the company's Numonyx acquisition, which was completed on May 7, 2010.
Micron registered revenues of US$2.29 billion in the third quarter of fiscal 2010, more than doubling the year-ago level.
Micron revealed that revenues generated from sales of DRAM products rose 10% sequentially in the third quarter of fiscal 2010, buoyed by a 9% growth in ASPs and a slight increase in unit sales volume.
Meanwhile, revenues from sales of NAND flash products were approximately 16% higher in the third quarter compared to the second quarter, driven by a 21% increase in unit sales volume. Micron said it was able to offset a 4% ASP decrease with the rising shipments.
Micron noted that its gross margin on sales of memory products improved from 35% in the second quarter to 40% in the third, primarily thanks to an overall increase in ASPs and the benefit for price adjustments from suppliers of NAND products. |
