Taiwan's shipments of branded and ODM handsets totaled over 21 million in the second quarter of 2014, representing an increase of about 30% on quarter and on year, according to Digitimes Research.

Shipments were driven by orders for Sony Xperia 2, HTC One (M8) and Assutek's Zenfone, with over four million shipments from HTC for its HTC One and Desire 816. Compal Communications saw increased orders from Sony Mobile Communications for its Xperia M2 and Xperia L series, which increased to 3.5 million in shipments. Zenfone shipments reached over one million units.

Taiwan makers including Chi Mei Communication Systems (CMCS) meanwhile benefited from 7.2 million shipments from Nokia for feature phones aimed at emerging markets, added Digitimes Research.
