The trend towards tablets rather than PCs is continuing, according to a new Gartner report. Tablets will soon become more popular than PCs, and 2014 will be the last year that PCs come out ahead in terms of total sales. Device shipments overall will increase 4.2 percent this year, and sales will increase even further in 2015 when tablets overtake traditional computers.

Gartner thinks that cheaper tablets will be responsible for much of the growth in that market since premium tablets are no longer as popular as they once were.

Google will benefit more than most according to Gartner's predictions since the company will have its mobile OS on upwards of 50 percent of devices.
