As Japan- and South Korea-based vendors have beefed up sales promotion of Ultra HD LCD TVs, global shipments for such models in 2014 are likely to reach 20 million units, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.

Vendors plan to continue releasing entry-level to high-end units throughout the end of 2014, with many vendors in China expected to hold promotional sales that will bring the pricing of entry-level models to that of Full HD units.

Decreased pricing for Ultra HD TV panels will be a major factor in allowing vendors to decrease pricing and most panel supply is expected to come from Korea-based panel makers' RGBW solutions in addition to low-cost solutions from Taiwan panel makers.

The vendors are expected to focus on promotion of Ultra HD TVs sized 48- to 85-inch, the makers indicated.
