Peak demand for LCD TVs for the early October holidays in China and the year-end holidays in the US and Europe is expected to remain flat on year, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.

The flat growth in China is expected to come as a result of the China government's move to discontinue energy-saving subsidies for LCD TV purchases.

Additionally, the makers said TV vendors estimate 2014 global Ultra HD TV shipments will reach 20 million units while TV ODMs expect 16 million units.

TV panels meanwhile are expected to be in steady supply throughout the third quarter aside from 32-inch units, which are likely to face shortages.
