Fabless semiconductor company Allwinner have announced the cheapest quad-core SoC in the world. The company's new Allwinner A33 chipset packs four ARM Cortex A7 CPU cores and costs as little as $4. The said chipset has now entered into mass production.
Allwinner's new ultra-cheap mobile SoC will end up in tablets that cost in the $30-$60 range, with 7" or 8" displays. Of course, the A33 is no performance king. Cortex A7 cores are power optimized, and don't really deliver smashing performance. However, Allwinner is touting long battery life. Here are the charts.
